Qualifications and Experience:

  • At least three years’ experience in a relevant position within political and security risk, or within a complementary sector, such as government, NGOs, civil society, or the media.
  • A postgraduate qualification with a very strong academic record.
  • An existing specialism in continental political and security risk
  • Excellent written and spoken English with the ability to edit and proof in English as well.
  • Impeccable research, writing and analytical skills.
  • Proficiency in another language is desirable, particularly French.
  • Efficient time management skills with the ability to work to tight deadlines.
  • Proven ability to work remotely and with minimal supervision.

Compliance Manager

We are seeking a diligent and experienced Compliance Manager to ensure that our group of security and risk management companies operates in full compliance with relevant laws, regulations, and industry standards across all African regions where we operate. The Compliance Manager will be responsible for developing, implementing, and maintaining effective compliance programs and policies to uphold the highest ethical standards and mitigate legal and regulatory risks.

Qualifications and Experience:

  • A degree in business administration, law, finance, or a related field is required. An advanced degree or professional certification in compliance or risk management is preferred.
  • Proven experience (5+ years) in compliance management, preferably within the security, risk management, or related industries in Africa.
  • In-depth knowledge of relevant laws, regulations, and industry standards governing security and risk management operations, both on and offshore in Africa.
  • Task Organisation and Management: Excellent organisation skills to deal with a large volume of tasks, to effectively prioritise and track all tasks to completion, delegating as required.
  • Problem-solving and Decision-making: Ability to identify compliance challenges, evaluate alternative courses of action, and make timely and informed decisions to resolve issues and mitigate risks effectively.
  • Strong analytical skills and attention to detail, with the ability to assess complex regulatory requirements and develop practical compliance solutions.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to effectively engage and influence stakeholders at all levels of the organisation.
  • Demonstrated leadership abilities, with a track record of building and leading high-performing teams and driving organisational change initiatives.
  • Ethical Leadership: Strong ethical principles and integrity, with the ability to foster a culture of ethical conduct and compliance awareness throughout the organisation.

Junior Analyst, Nigeria

Castor Vali is looking for highly motivated candidates to join its growing Security Information Services (SIS) department in Nigeria. The SIS department produces subscription-based and ad hoc assessments to give our clients in Western Africa and the Sahel a comprehensive understanding of the political and security environments in which they operate. These products include dailies, alerts, weeklies, monthlies, etc as part of country packages and bespoke reporting such as journey threat assessments and security risk assessments as part of ad hoc assessments.

Qualifications, Experience and Qualities:

  • A postgraduate qualification and a strong academic record, averaging 65 percent and above in a relevant degree – such as political science, international relations, intelligence, criminal investigations, or strategic studies etc.
  • Impeccable research, writing, and analytical skills. Applicants should be able to show that they have worked on political or security issues in Africa (either as part of their degree or as part of work experience).
  • Excellent communication skills
  • A can-do and positive attitude.
  • Fluency in French is desirable.

We are seeking an experienced investigator/loss controller to join our team in Nairobi. The primary focus of this role will be to safeguard our clients’ operations from potential threats and risks throughout the entire production and distribution process for our client a major FMCG business. The ideal candidate will have a proven track record of managing teams, identifying, and mitigating risks, as well as experience in conducting investigations and implementing loss prevention strategies. Police or military experience an advantage. As an Investigator/Loss Controller, you will hold a pivotal role in the organisation, actively contributing to our security and risk management objectives. Your responsibilities will encompass conducting thorough investigations and implementing loss control measures to ensure the safeguarding of our clients’ assets and interests.

Maritime Business Development Manager
We are seeking a dynamic and experienced Maritime Business Development Manager to join our team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for driving business growth and expanding our client base within the maritime industry.
