Castor Vali is proud to announce that it has successfully migrated from the OHSAS 18001:2007 certification to the new Occupational Health and Safety (OH&S) standard ISO 45001:2018. This transition was important to Castor Vali as OHSAS 18001 focused primarily on OH&S hazards and other internal issues within an organisation. Whereas ISO 45001 focuses on the interaction between an organisation and its business environment and expressly includes the participation and consultation of its workforce.
“This change represents a significant shift in the way health and safety management is perceived. OH&S is no longer treated as a “stand alone”, but must be viewed within the perspective of running a sound and sustainable organization.” (International Standards Organisation 2018)
ISO 45001:2018 aims to enable organisations to provide a safe and healthy workplace by preventing work-related injury and ill health whilst proactively improving their OH&S performance. Castor Vali is continually looking for ways to improve occupational health and safety, the focus of this standard and the policies associated with it, enable Castor Vali to achieve the following outcomes:
- Provide safe and healthy workplaces by preventing work-related injury and ill health;
- Provide an accident-free environment for all Castor Vali personnel and relevant parties;
- Maintain compliance with HSE legal/regulatory requirements;
- Improve the organisation HSE culture;
- Reduce environmental impacts;
- Proactively improve the organisations HSE performance.
